SRU Contract ADI to Provide LED Screen Solution to Murrayfield Stadium

ADI have won a contract with The Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) to provide 172m² of LED product to Murrayfield stadium, the home of Scottish rugby.

Murrayfield Stadium - home of Scottish Rugby and soon to be home to Scotland's largest LED Screen The two giant 60m² Virtuality LED screens and two accompanying 26m² digiSCORE LED scoreboards will be installed this autumn, ready for their first use when the All Blacks visit on 8th November.

Murrayfield is the largest stadium in Scotland and with a capacity of 67,000, it will be the largest stadium to take ADI screens.  With two 60m² Virtuality screens, Murrayfield will boast the largest LED screens in Scotland and also have the largest screen area per stadium seat, bigger than Twickenham, Wembley or The Millennium Stadium.

Murrayfield will be the first rugby stadium to feature Virtuality screens and one of the first stadia to feature the new digiSCORE LED scoreboard system (full details below).

Having previously hired smaller LED screens for major occasions, The SRU decided the time was right to invest in permanent screens for one of the UK’s largest and most iconic stadiums.  Scottish Rugby’s Chief Executive, Gordon McKie, said: “We have decided to go for permanent screens, to improve the match day experience for supporters at Murrayfield, and also to enhance the world-class facilities that we have at Murrayfield, facilities that play a key part in attracting major events to Edinburgh.

Big screens are now an absolutely integral part of modern professional sport, especially when you consider in a rugby context the drama of a referral to the video referee.”

Artist's impression of one of the two huge 60m² Virtuality LED screens Robin Currie, Sales Manager at ADI, commented: “It gives us great pride to partner with Scottish Rugby as their screen provider to one of the UK’s leading and most iconic stadiums.

"The launch of our digiSCORE system further demonstrates our commitment to this market and is a product founded on proven technology partnered with advanced and user-friendly software.

“What sets ADI apart from our competitors is our product, experience and ability to provide a complete solution as manufacturer, integrator, content provider and operator.

“Our partnership with SRU only begins with the screen installation – we look forward to working closely with them to ensure that they exact maximum value from their investment.”

digiSCORE LED Scoreboards

The 26m² digiSCORE scoreboards to be installed are a brand new product on the market, bringing the impact and flexibility of LED technology to the scoreboard environment.  Key to the success of digiSCORE is the custom-built software interface, allowing for quick, simple and customisable control of content.

digiSCORE’s  operating software is designed in-house, meaning that it can constantly be developed and can be easily customised to fulfil any special requirements customers may have.  Key elements are the simplicity and flexibility of the software – an operator can learn to use it in a matter of minutes and it recognises multiple file formats, enabling it to play out virtually any video or picture format.  Content can be previewed and played out “on-the-fly” and it also features a fully customisable match clock.
