...and the view from the other side, as people enter the square
Silk Screens was a series of simultaneous outdoor film screenings and live events taking place around the UK and celebrating the lives of British Chinese in the run-up to the Beijing Olympics. ADI were contracted to provide one of their unique double-sided iCONIC 15 screens for Birmingham’s leg of the cultural festival, which took place in four cities across the UK.
The Square was awash with colour and music, with attractions including professional and community dancers, singers and martial artists. ADI were contracted by Birmingham City Council, and they made use of the iCONIC 15’s innovative double-screened design by positioning the screen on the corner of Victoria Square, allowing people in the square and those entering it to view the onscreen content.
Throughout the day, the screens played out live footage of the activities as well as live screenings of the Silk Screen films, made with the support of BBC Video Nation and reflecting the culture and lives of British Chinese in the UK.
