ADI Screens Help Cities See in New Year in Style

ADI helped thousands to bring in the New Year in style, with LED screens in Belfast and Glasgow city centres.

Supergrass entertain the Belfast crowds on the iCONIC 15Both events were organised by city councils, with ADI providing their iCONIC mobile LED screens to ensure the tens of thousands of revellers got a great view of the festivities.

In Belfast, ADI provided two of their smaller iCONIC mobile units (the iCONIC 15 and iCONIC 12) for the “Rock the Hall” concert at Belfast City Hall. ADI also supplied a three camera outside broadcast unit and crew to film the event for live broadcast onto the screens.

Gates opened on a bitterly cold evening at 7pm, and the crowds were kept entertained by by DJs from local radio station Cool FM, who roused the crowds until the bands came on. Notable acts included The Pigeon Detectives who played until around 11pm, before headline act Supergrass, who played until the show ended at 12.30am, with the obvious pause at midnight for huge celebration!

As in Belfast, ADI controlled the complete broadcast – this time they provided a large iCONIC 60 mobile LED screen, which has a full onboard production suite meaning there was no additional vehicle required for the three camera outside broadcast service.

The festivities were part of the month long city centre Winterfest which had taken place at George Square. ADI had arrived on the morning on the 31st to raise the huge 60m² screen and lay camera cables before gates opened at 8pm. Glasgow had booked an impressive line-up with a local flavour, with top Scottish band Idlewild joined by local boy Paolo Nutini.

With ADI’s iCONIC mobile LED screens used for both events, both of ADI’s teams were able to derig quickly and with the minimum of fuss, allowing them to be offsite by 3am.
