The event was part of The Greater London Authority’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations which ran throughout the week across the capital.

ADI were contracted by Kevin McGuire of K13.biz ltd as part of the screen and broadcast content package in Trafalgar Square.

ADI arrived onsite at 6am to locate and setup the iCONIC 60 and ensure links to the K13.biz-supplied 3 camera outside broadcast unit were verified before the festivities began at midday. Throughout the afternoon, the iCONIC 60 showed a mixture of live action from the on-stage acts as well as informational content such as sponsors’ logos and running order details, created and supplied by K13.biz.Joe Giltrap entertains the crowds

The crowd of some 10,000 was treated to an all-Irish experience, including food, dance and music provided by a line-up of both traditional and contemporary Irish bands. Trafalgar Square also received a visit from the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which began at Hyde Park Corner and wound its way through the streets of London towards Trafalgar Square. As it passed, the parade was captured by the OB team – via a camera on a scissor lift – and intercut with on-stage footage on ADI’s screen, enabling everyone to get a great view.

The festival drew to a close at 6pm, and – as the merry crowds made their way home – ADI began the derig of the screen, enabling them to be offsite and on their way home about an hour later. The crowds were certainly getting into the swing of things!

Nick Parker, Business Development Manager at ADI, commented: “It was great to be involved in such a major part of what is a global celebration. The entertainment for the day was first class and we were pleased to be able to help so many people enjoy it.”

Kevin McGuire, Director of K13.biz, said: “I was very pleased with the way ADI’s screen and crew combined into the overall package of the day and have received positive feedback from the event team at the GLA.”
