ADI Help Thousands Mourn at Jade Goody Funeral

Huge crowds gather before the ceremonyJade Goody was given an emotional send-off last week, as thousands of members of the public took to the streets of London and flocked to her funeral in Essex to pay their last respects.ADI's screens help everyone to see

A true people’s princess, Jade was adored by many for her honest, down to earth attitude and – more recently – for her campaigning to raise awareness about cervical cancer, the disease which was to end her life so tragically early. Her popularity amongst the British public was plain to see as the funeral procession began in her home town of Bermondsey in London, where thousands lined the streets to say goodbye to the star who passed away on Mothers’ Day. Over the course of the morning, the procession slowly made its way through the people-lined streets towards Buckhurst Hill and Jade’s final resting place.Full coverage on Sky News

ADI provided two screens for the ceremony in Buckhurst Hill, which were positioned outside St John The Baptist Church and showed the whole service live to the 3,000 well wishers who had gathered to share their grief. Millions more watched across the country via a live broadcast on Sky News and bulletins on major news shows.

Following the ceremony, Jade was taken to her final resting place in Epping Forest. Whilst Jade often polarised opinion in people during her lifetime, she will undoubtedly be remembered for her work in the final months of her lifetime; doctors say her selfless campaigning has brought about a phenomenal rise in tests for the disease, the second biggest cancer killer of women in their early 30s. For a woman that once famously thought that horseradish came from horses, Jade leaves an impressive legacy.
