One of two 60sq.m. ADI Virtuality screens at Murrayfield Stadium.
Murrayfield – Magic Weekend, Heineken Cup Final, IRB Sevens
As the winter sports calendar has drawn to a close, there’s been a busy programme of action at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, which plays host to two 60m² Virtuality LED screens and 2 digiSCORE scoreboards.
First off was the “Magic Weekend” – which saw a change of code as 14 of the UK’s top Rugby League sides battled for supremacy at Scotland’s leading stadium. Later in the month, rugby union’s premier competition – the Heineken Cup – was concluded, as Leicester narrowly lost to Leinster in the dramatic final at Murrayfield, whilst the end of May saw the final leg of the IRB Sevens World Series battled out in the home of Scottish rugby.
An iCONIC 15 plays out the celebratory programming at Leicester City's Walkers Stadium
Leicester City FC
A good year for Leicester City saw them promoted back up into the Coca Cola Championship, and ADI helped them to celebrate in style at the last home match of the season. A carnival atmosphere greeted over 30,000 fans who flocked to the Walkers Stadium to celebrate both the club’s promotion and its 125 year anniversary, with the party starting nearly 4 hours before kick off at 4pm.
An ADI iCONIC 15 was used by the club outside of the stadium, to entertain fans with season highlights, a message from Club Chairman Milan Mandaric and advertisements from the club’s partners. The screen was also used to promote the launch of Leicester City’s brand new kit, which went on sale at 6.45pm that evening.
Usain Bolt poses for the cameras in front of an ADI iCONIC 25 at Manchester's Bupa Great City Games
Great Manchester Run / Great City Games
For the sixth year running, ADI provided screens for the Bupa Great Manchester Run, which sees over 30,000 runners take part in a 10km run across the famous city.
This year’s event saw a change in format, with the inaugural Bupa Great CityGames also taking place. The event saw some of the world’s top sprinters taking part in a unique competition run over a special temporary 150m track built on Deansgate. Huge crowds gathered to watch the 100m world record holder Usain Bolt take to the track, with ADI’s iCONIC 25 and iCONIC 60 screens nearby helping everyone to get a great view of the action.
The fans weren’t disappointed, with Bolt covering the 150m sprint in an astonishing 14.35 seconds – at a pace faster even than last year’s 100m and 200m events in Beijing!
Two iCONIC 15s greeted guests to this year's Sports Industry Awards at Battersea
Sports Industry Awards
