ADI Provide Ultimate Pub Screen for Wimbledon Finals

Customers to The Waterman Country Pub & Restaurant in Warwickshire were treated to a weekend of Wimbledon in the sun, courtesy of an iCONIC 10 screen from ADI.

A great atmosphere in The Waterman's gardens for the men's finalThe mobile LED screen was hired by The Waterman for the duration of the weekend and located in their expansive garden area, so that customers could relax in the sun and enjoy the Wimbledon finals taking place.

With the iCONIC 10 towable by a 4x4 vehicle, it was very easy for ADI to locate the screen on Friday evening, before setting up a PA system and taking a feed from the pub’s freeview box. The screen was powered by the iCONIC 10’s on-board super-quiet generator, meaning the minimum of fuss for The Waterman.

Whilst Andy Murray’s dramatic loss on the Friday evening meant the Britain was denied its first finalist in over 70 years, the weather for the weekend remained sunny and warm, enticing hundreds to come and enjoy some fine food and drink and soak up the atmosphere.

Wimbledon favourite Pete Sampras watches as his Grand Slam record is broken by Roger FedererThe Waterman had certainly got into the swing of things and there was a real Wimbledon atmosphere throughout the weekend – staff dressed in tennis gear and they did a roaring trade in strawberries & cream and Pimms, as well as from the barbeque and outside bar.

As a family pub, once the finals had finished on each day The Waterman decided to use the screens to show children’s movies to entertain their customers into the evening.

William Pritchard, Manager at The WatermanCountry Pub & Restaurant, commented: "It was great fun to have a big screen showing a traditional British event in a traditional English pub. With the staff dressing up in tennis gearand the sales of strawberries and pimms flowing through the garden, the atmosphere the screen created was electric, even despite the absence of a certain Mr Murray!”

ADI Business Development Manager Nick Parker commented: “This kind of application is perfect for our smaller mobile screens and shows how commercially viable they are for smaller events. The fact that they are setup and ready to go within a few minutes makes them perfect for such usage and helps to keep costs down.”
