Triple Screen BeamBack for Steel City Derby

ADI provided a triple mobile screen solution for Sheffield Wednesday’s beamback at Hillsborough earlier this month.
Wednesday’s away ticket allocation for the local derby match against arch rivals Sheffield United at Bramall Lane had predictably sold out, so the Club contracted ADI to provide a solution to allow fans to enjoy the match from the comfort of their own stands.
The huge rivalry between the clubs saw the beamback draw a massive crowd of 11,000 and pack out the South Stand, giving the Owls the second highest attendance in League 1 that weekend – without the team being present!
ADI provided Wednesday with two of their iCONIC 25 screens, plus an additional iFLY 25. The three screens were positioned on trackway on the edge of the pitch and in a line facing the crowds in the South Stand.
In addition, to add to the occasion, Wednesday produced an official matchday programme - the first in the club’s history for an away fixture - which completely sold out ahead of the pulsating 2-2 derby draw.
The whole event was incident-free and Owls fans went home happy following the team’s dramatic comeback in the closing minutes that ensured Gary Megson’s side returned to S6 with a point. Stadium Operations Manager John Rutherford said: “The beam back was a fantastic occasion and a pleasure to manage. The feedback from those present has been massively positive.”
