Mama Mia Reaches Fever Pitch! Big Screen Movies from ADI
Friday, May 27, 2011 at 3:49PM ADI provided screens for a brace of movie screenings last weekend as one of our screens headed for events in Viking Bay Kent, followed by Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.
The first stop for the iCONIC 25 was Broadstairs Beach in Kent last week for a Mama Mia night.
The screening was part of the Big Broadstairs Weekend, with three days of Abba-themed events taking place on the beach – otherwise known as Viking Bay – culminating in a world record attempt on Sunday as over 1,000 people took part in a sponsored choreographed dance along the promenade to Abba’s dancing Queen, raising money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and QEQM Special Babies Unit.
The weekend was full of family-based activities, kicking off on Friday evening with Abba-themed band Abalicious playing the Pavilion. Saturday dawned bright and sunny and ADI arrived on site early in the morning to position the iCONIC 25 screen on the beach promenade, before Saturday’s family fun day, which included greek barbeques on the beach and culminated in a screening of hit movie Mama Mia on ADI’s screen. Large crowds gathered for the free event with over 1,000 people on the beach to watch the movie, with audio courtesy of an ADI PA system.
Following the event, the iCONIC 25 made its way towards the capital to take part in another movie screening at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. Monday’s event gave Arsenal fans the unique opportunity to sit on the hallowed turf at The Emirates Stadium and enjoy a movie night. ADI’s screen was positioned at the end of the pitch and hundreds of people relaxed to enjoy the classic Nick Hornby movie Fever Pitch, appropriately telling the story of a man’s obsession with Arsenal FC!
