ADI Big Screens Entertain Fans at Major London Finals
Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 3:15PM In association with Wembley City, ADI provided a giant LED screen for Europe’s biggest football match this weekend as The UEFA Champions League Final came to Wembley.
Fans arriving were greeted by a huge iCONIC 100 mobile LED screen, positioned alongside the entrance ramp to Wembley Stadium. With tickets in huge demand, thousands were expected for the final, so UEFA transformed Olympic Way into a fanzone area designed to draw crowds throughout the day and minimise transport bottlenecks before kick-off.
Besides the fact that ADI’s iCONIC 100 was able to be erected in only around half an hour, one of the main attractions of the iCONIC 100 to UEFA was its ability to rotate. During the match when the screen was turned off, ADI span the screen through 180 degrees, meaning it was facing fans as they left the stadium following the match. Post-match programming was made up of safety and travel information messages to the tens of thousands of fans interspersed with promotional content from UEFA commercial partners.
With huge crowds for the match between Leicester Tigers and Saracens, ADI were contracted by event management agency Active Group to provide a huge screen for the Aviva Premiership Village and Fan Park to entertain fans before they entered the stadium.
With the final being shown live in HD on ESPN, the channel was broadcasting live from a temporary studio in the fanzone. ADI’s iCONIC 100 was placed directly behind the studio, with a huge printed banner on its side to promote ESPN.
Following the match thousands of fans streamed out of the stadium and the atmosphere in the fanzone picked up again. The iCONIC 100 again showed live content from the ESPN on-site studio as well as highlights from the afternoon’s match and promotional content from commercial partners, before finally being switched off at around 8.00pm.
